In the world of 3D printing and design, the bridge between a script and a physical part has always been a bit clunky. You usually need a beefy workstation, a stack of local software, and a lot of manual "guess-timating" for print times and material costs.

Today, we’re changing that. We are excited to share a first look at openFFM Cloud by AHM Labs—a self-hosted, high-performance ecosystem designed to turn your 3D assets into a production-ready library.

What is openFFM Cloud?

Originally built as a dedicated cloud-rendering server for OpenSCAD, openFFM Cloud has grown into a comprehensive platform for managing, customizing, and slicing 3D models. Whether you are dealing with .scad, .stl, .obj, or .3mf files, this platform brings professional-grade tools directly to your browser.

The Features That Matter

  • Server-Side Rendering: No more melting your laptop. Our Custom-Built OpenSCAD Docker Server handles the heavy lifting, rendering complex parametric designs in a headless environment.

  • Precision Slicing: With an integrated PrusaSlicer engine, you can generate G-code on the fly without ever leaving the app.

  • Intelligence Built-In: Get instant 3D Print Time Calculations and dynamic cost estimation based on filament weight and electricity rates.

  • Live Customizer: Adjust variables on your OpenSCAD files in real-time and see the changes instantly through our high-fidelity PBR (Physically Based Rendering) viewer.

  • Collaborative Sharing: Need a client to see a model? Generate a Secure Public Token and send them a live 3D configurator—no login required.

Built for Stability

Under the hood, openFFM Cloud is a powerhouse. We’ve utilized Node.js, Redis, and BullMQ to ensure that even when you're rendering multiple complex models, the system stays snappy. By limiting processes and managing queues, we’ve created a "set it and forget it" workflow for 3D production.

Why We Built It

As part of the AHM Labs initiative, we believe in giving back to the maker community. We use AI-assisted development to take our handwritten concepts and turn them into rapid prototypes. This allows us to build high-utility, open-source tools that anyone can fork, modify, and deploy for their own needs.

What’s Next?

This is just the beginning. Our roadmap includes Automated Nesting (fitting more parts on one bed), Mobile AR Previews so you can see your part on your desk before you print it, and Distributed Scaling to handle massive production queues.

Keep an eye on this space—we're just getting started.Reorder entry published openFFM gif
